Honeybush (Cyclopia sp.) is a leguminous shrub native to the fynbos biome of the Western and Eastern Cape. Several commercially important species — including Cyclopia intermedia, Cyclopia subternata, and Cyclopia sessiliflora — are harvested from this region exclusively.
The distinctive honey-like flavour profile, high mangiferin and hesperidin content, and complete absence of caffeine are characteristics that cannot be replicated from any other plant or origin. BioAhead sources from verified SA producers with full species and region traceability.
Fermented grade
Traditional sun-drying and fermentation process. Characteristic reddish-brown colour and sweet, mellow honey-like flavour. Preferred for beverage and infusion applications where flavour profile is the primary specification criterion.
Unfermented grade
Minimal processing preserves a higher concentration of mangiferin, hesperidin, and other polyphenols. Preferred for nutraceutical and cosmetic active applications where antioxidant potency and isoflavone content are the primary purchase criteria.
